Description
-
Washington and Lee’s Mock Convention simulates the presidential nominating convention held every four years. The goal is for W&L students to predict who the White House will nominate as the candidate for the party out of power. This exhibit compares and contrasts W&L's 17th and 27th Mock Conventions. Chairmen from W&L's 1980 Mock Convention, the 17th convention said that "despite the rich tradition that ties all of these quadrennial events together, each in its own way displays a distinctive personality." This quote inspired us to explore 1980's convention versus 2020's convention. As such, this exhibit explores these nuances for two Mock Conventions.
